Managing creative approvals with game publishers

Set a publisher approval route, identify each creative version and confirm the approved asset is ready for its intended game placement.

Approve a game ad against a named creative version and the player view in which it will appear. Agree who reviews it, who can request changes and who controls the serving asset. Approval of a campaign concept does not automatically cover a later file or build.

Establish the approval route

Start with the deal and creative source. A direct publisher arrangement may have its own review process. Ask the seller whether the publisher manages creatives through its own review route, and confirm the decision owner for this buy.

Request specifications for the booked game, surface or ad unit, device, size, file type, destination and review lead time. Find out whether orientation, language or placement requires separate versions. Agree whether reviewers will see a flat asset, a rendered preview, a destination or the complete player flow.

Review the player view

Where possible, submit a normal-speed preview in context. For a game-world surface, show plausible approaches and the final rendering. For an ad at a break, show the transition into and out of the unit. Distinguish approval of the advertiser’s asset from approval of the combined placement when the publisher controls part of the experience.

Check claims and essential conditions against the current destination. Check that visible controls do what they suggest. If the publisher requests a different crop, logo or wording, save a new version and review the affected player view. Retain the earlier decision so the change can be traced.

Confirm serving readiness

Creative sign-off, platform readiness and serving configuration are separate checks. Do not treat a platform status label alone as a verdict; verify the actual configuration.

Before launch, request confirmation of the approved creative ID, its line-item association and the intended first serving date. When delivery begins, ask for available creative-level reporting to compare the served identifier with the approved version. If that identification is unavailable, record the limit rather than asserting that the approved version ran.

Reopen approval when a later offer, game update or placement substitution materially changes the approved view.
